Once upon a time I would have felt really silly sharing this, worried that people would think I’m mad or delusional. But this is what Millennial Woman is all about…
There are literally a million resources, thousands of thought leaders and a myriad of techniques all about motivation, so I don’t really see the point in rehashing someone else’s step by step guide here. However, I quickly wanted to share the one thing I do to keep myself motivated.
If you don’t know me, then you won’t know that I absolutely love property. I have a real appreciation for a beautiful home and I have a very clear vision of the house I will some day be able to buy. But at the moment I live in a 2 bed flat in London – where property comes at a premium.
So, when I feel really demotivated, frustrated and in the mood to sit on my sofa and watch TV, I jump on to one of the big property sites such as Zoopla or Rightmove and I look for my future home.
There are 3 key features that I want my home to have:
1. A big kitchen with an island;
2. A lovely, well-kept garden for my little boy to run around in;
3. And, multiple bathrooms. (Anyone with IBS will understand the importance of this luxury.)
So I search for beautiful houses that match the above criteria. I even look at the floorplans so I have an appreciation for the flow of the house and I then imagine my colour schemes and furniture. Some of you may think this is absolutely stupid, but here’s the thing – it works for me!
Of course, when I put the price range in I know that my dream home is presently out of reach but it reinvigorates my belief that I can get there. If others can do it then why not me or you?
Obviously this is my go to motivation technique and I truly believe visualisation works so it makes sense to me to do this.
How about you? How do you keep yourself motivated? Let me know in the comments below.
